Meditating on 1 Peter

When I was in Bible school, an assignment was to read 1Peter, verse by verse, each day and journal your thoughts as well as what God spoke to your heart.  I just found those notes and have been compelled to write them for whatever reason.  Certainly, getting them off the paper (which was written in pencil) and onto a typed sheet will be a blessing to me if no one else.

1Pe 1:22  Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

Websters:  1. Earnestly; eagerly; vehemently; with great warmth.

Strongs:  Adverb from G1618; intently: - fervently.

God's Message To Me Today
My soul is purified when I obey the truth. If you wonder why there may be unrest in your soul ask yourself if you are disobeying the truth, not walking in sincere love of the brethren or whether your heart's pure toward your brother.

1 Peter 1:22
I am born again by incorruptible seed through the word of God that lives and abides forever. Therefore I should love brethren out of a pure heart.

Love is a choice.  I choose to love.

Command:  Love one another fervently with a pure heart.

The Word of God lives and abides forever.

Practical Application:
When impure thoughts come, check how my thoughts have been about my brother, sister, husband, children or anyone else in my life.  Fight in prayer to push those thoughts out of your mind by replacing the thought with the Word of God about that person.

Father, forgive me when I fall short of obedience in your Word.  Help me to love others fervently, intently, on purpose.  .
